8 Things To Do While Waiting For College Decisions

It is understandable to feel nervous as you await your college admission decisions. It may seem like time has passed very slowly since you submitted your college applications. Unfortunately, we cannot speed up the process, but here are a few activities and recommendations to keep you busy while you wait.

Build confidence

You cannot change the application once you have submitted it.

Do not waste your time second-guessing your decisions, and be confident in the application and essays you have submitted.

Keep reminding yourself of your achievements and accomplishments. Reflect on your strengths and what makes you unique. Building your confidence will help you maintain a positive outlook during the waiting period.

Fight Seniority

Do not lose focus and motivation. Keep yourself engaged in your classes, participate in extracurricular activities, and attend social events to keep your mind off the waiting period.

Research

Continue researching your top-choice schools and programs and make a list of their academic and extracurricular requirements.

Sometimes schools can take longer than expected to release a decision, or they might put you on a waitlist. Waiting can also offer the opportunity to research or apply to other schools.

Look for scholarships

Look for scholarships that match your interests, qualifications, and academic achievements. Start applying early, and make sure to read the eligibility requirements carefully.

Follow up on your application

Typically, colleges will send a confirmation email after receiving an application, explaining how to verify the application status via their online portal.

Contacting the admission offices once or twice is fine, but you don’t want to be that student who obsessively reaches out to schools. Be patient.

Watch your mail, email, and voicemail

Check your mailbox, email, and voicemail often for any updates on your admission status. Respond to any requests for information promptly to ensure a smooth admission process.

Make the most of your senior year

Enjoy your senior year to the fullest by participating in school events, socializing with your friends, and making new connections. It will help you build lifelong memories and prepare you for the next chapter of your life.

Try new things

Try incorporating stress-reducing activities into your routine, such as meditation or exercise. You can also connect with friends or family members who can offer emotional support during this time.

Do not forget to stay positive! It might take some time, but your decisions will come soon.
