Is a public or private university better?

At the beginning of every college dream, already having a little clear what it is that you are going to study, you find yourself with that great concern about which place would be suitable to start your studies, you ask yourself:

What is the best for me? Will I feel comfortable with the decision I make? I will not regret? If I make a wrong decision, will I waste my time and won't be able to get it back? Which University should I go to?

So these questions create certain points that influence your final decision. Many elements come in here, but the main one is that you make the decision based on your preferences and clearly with the economic capabilities of your parents.

When we talk about universities, we always have to keep in mind that it is the place where we will spend extensive time to train and learn about the career we choose. For these same reasons, the ideal would be to carry out a thorough investigation of all the options that we have in mind, the main thing is that you do not miss any, any option is viable, and perhaps it may be the right one for you.

The aspects that we find in a public university and in a private one are different, these are some:

PUBLIC UNIVERSITY

  • They have the help of the State, to a large extent they help with financing, which makes their entry more accessible to students.

  • We find a quality of teachers who dedicate a large part of their lives to the development of knowledge.

  • The career offer is wide.

  • Some very good public universities abroad are: University Of Virginia, Arizona State University and University Of Arizona, these are some of the large number that exist.

  • Here the places are limited, they have a certain number of places to train a specific number of young people, which makes entering a strong competition.

  • With regard to infrastructure, it can be a negative point, since as resources are limited, it can be affected in the equipment, facilities or services that are required for any career.

PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES

  • They do not have a really extensive educational proposal like the public ones, but this makes them focus on improving educational quality in certain careers.

  • They invest heavily in perfecting their facilities and technologies for each of the careers they offer. This makes it very common to see all well-equipped laboratories and classrooms with quality equipment.

  • They do not limit the entry of young people to train them. But they require different requirements to enter, such as entrance exams.

  • We find prestigious universities such as: American University and Baylor University.

  • Also, in addition to the careers, they offer activities that further develop the capacities of the students, training them and thus being leaders or helping the community appropriately.

  • Their investment is very high, in this way for parents it is a sacrifice, this is an aspect that works against young people who do not have the necessary resources.

We can see that there are good things and bad things when we talk about public and private universities. After taking into account all the aspects, you should think about what benefits you the most. Talk to your parents about the budget they have for your project, start investigating options that can serve you, both options are good, there are universities that have a great popularity that leads them almost to excellence, both public and private. But remember that it all depends on you , your budget and your research.
